I decided to give to a non-profit called Refuge Coffee Co. They employ refugees in Atlanta and teach them how to be baristas so that they can make a living while teaching them important career development skills to take them beyond coffee. I heard about them from my cousin Jessica who works for Refuge helping out all the immigrants and refugees. She’s shown at 2:13 of this video:
They had 3 options for giving which they called “Big Plans.” The first big plan was the coffee truck, which had already been accomplished. Another one was to open a physical location in the town of Clarkston, which would be a big step up from the truck they currently have. Finally, the one I chose was their Refuge Roasters project. The goal of this project is to raise enough funds to buy their own roaster so that they can begin selling the actual coffee beans and grinds. I chose this because I hope to be able to order coffee from Refuge someday. Great coffee, great cause.
